New LIFE Resolution! - Made Fit TV - Ep 78

December 30th, 2009 | | Email This Post Email This Post |

The confetti has fallen, the champagne bottles have emptied, and the ball has dropped.  A new year comes this new-found purpose in people in the form of a “New Year’s Resolution.” We toss that phrase around every year, but do we really know what it means?  Speaking for the majority, no.

There are many definitions for the word resolution, but the core of the word is action.  And when it comes down to acting on a New Year’s Resolution, everyone has an excuse not to follow through.  As opposed to looking at the New Year as something that sets you up for failure, set yourself up to be a better a you!

In this week’s Made Fit TV episode, it’s all about how you are going to achieve a New LIFE Resolution in 2010.  I give you three tips you can use to keep you looking forward and putting your health and well-being first. It involves focusing on the right things, committing to that focus, and educating yourself on what works for you and what doesn’t.

THANK YOU for a great year in 2009 with Made Fit TV! See you in 2010!

This is by far one of my favorite episodes. I don't make Resolutions anymore I make goals for the year and I am not a diet I am on a health plan. When I refer the words of resolutions and diet. I have always failed and they are only short term. I am in this for the long run. I am always looking for encouraging words to help me in my weight loss process. I am so glad that I saw you on the Sterling Heights news. Watching you on Saturday afternoons is what I look forward to help motivate me and to keep going. You are so encouraging to me and one of my weight loss tools for my weight loss journey.
  • Thanks, Kristine! It's always a pleasure chatting with you. I know 2010 will be a good one for you!

Great episode, Jenny! Going to the gym in January is always a little challenging because of all the resolution peeps. However, I always love watching to see who sticks with it into February, March, etc. So, for all of you who are just beginning a new journey to a better, healthier you, just know that many of us in the gym are silently cheering you on!

Jenny- I also wanted to share an episode idea with you. I hear time and time again that we all have a core body weight-- the weight our bodies are most comfortable at. I think the whole concept of weight really does a mental number on people--especially women. I work out and lift regularly, and I seem to always stay around 147-149 lbs. I could get down to 143-145, but it is very hard...super clean eating. So I just wanted to hear your thoughts on all this.

    Best,
    Diane
  • Happy New Year, Diane! It is pretty crazy at the gyms this time of year. It is a double-edged sword, though, because as much as you want more room for you, you want others to keep their memberships and stay motivated!

Thanks for the show idea. That is a confusing concept and really does mess with people's minds on optimal health. I will keep it in mind for sure. As for you, give yourself a break and take your mind off it while you're continuing your healthy living and eating. You're doing great, so you deserve a pat on the back!

I'm so glad to have stumbled onto your website. I'm interrested in figure but don't know a whole lot about it and how to prepare for a competition. I enjoyed the inside peek you gave us with your competition episode. I also enjoyed looking at some of your favorites, particulary the peanut butter ball recipe. I can't wait to try it out!
  • Those peanut butter balls are pretty addicting! Glad you enjoy them! Thanks for watching Made Fit TV and checking out my competition video. It is an intense sport that I will continue to pursue and show more of on my videos.

Fantastic tips! Love the reminder to focus on one issue at a time -- and love the butt-kicking on commitment! Thanks for the great advice!
  • You're welcome, Karen! I like to compare it to money: you can't make $100 out of $1 in just a day. Same with weightloss. But you can keep consistent and COMMIT to saving (losing weight) and you will eventually hit your goal over time with those habits : )

I am so excited that I just found your website in my community newspaper. I have looked through a little bit of your website. I took a peek at Brides Made Fit and thought that is an awesome idea (and so affordable) and would have been a great bridal party idea (even gift). Everyone wants to tone even if they don't feel they need to lose weight.

Well, I do. Already married, have three children, and need to lose about 20 pounds. Even your 12/30 podcast has me motivated and thinking. Live in Royal Oak, MI so I think I will start with the podcasts. I have started working out on my own but believe this will be an added benefit as I can do this from home. Looks like I wont accomplish much today in terms of things around the house, but will accomplish something much more today by exploring your podcasts, taking notes and getting started taking time for myself and taking care of me.
  • Hi Lisa! Which paper was that? I'm glad you find the videos helpful for your workout program. Nothing makes me happier knowing that people use the exercises and make them part of their lifestyle! Let me know if you ever want me to stop by and give you a free trial workout : )

It really makes me think on how much time I wasted trying to reach impossible goals while the secret to success is just consistency and dedication in what we believe. Thanks Jenny! Have a great 2010 :)
