As cliche as it may sound, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  But why?  When you sleep, even though your body is maintaining a lower heart rate, your body is fasting.  If we’re lucky, we typically get 8 hours of sleep.  So, that’s ten hours or more your body goes without eating food!  And, I say ten hours because we don’t eat right before bed, I would hope!

So, breakfast is crucial in kick-starting your metabolism for the rest of the day.  And you don’t want to just eat anything. Sorry, no sticky buns!  You must eat protein, some healthy carbs and fat.  The perfect meal that I always recommend involves eggs, every time.  In this week’s episode of Made Fit TV, we join a Detroit-based professional meal service, Gourmet Everyday, in showing you a great breakfast omelet recipe.  The company’s owner, Michelle Kobernick, shares with us her “Rule of Three’s”, key to making your meal the best tasting and the healthiest!

Yeh, Im with Linda. I have restricted time in the morning so maybe end up eating musli & milk; Oatbrits & milk or a fruit salad on the week days, and have egg meal on the weekend. I like the idea of your omlets, and Ill try one tomorrow morning. Can you tell us what you put on the one in your Ep. 80 - I saw capsicum (green pepper in your language) and you mentioned broccoli and grated cheddar. What else was there.
Great site, thanks from Canberra Australia

  • You can actually put any vegetables you want in an omelet. I think there were onions and red peppers in there, along with some turkey sausage. The more variety the better! Just make sure you always add protein in every meal, and it's a good one. Thanks so much for your post!
  • I have never skipped breakfast in 25 years. When I wake up, I walk straight into the kitchen and grab my oatmeal and egg white breakfast. Its the only way I know to start my day!
  • Me too! Can't start my day without at least something to eat. Sometimes I do workout better with little food in my stomach in the early a.m., but oats and egg whites are the perfect combo of macronutrients and are super clean eats! Thanks for watching and commenting : )

I commute, so I usually eat breakfast on the run (as I often run late in the mornings). My breakfast usually consists of Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar Added mixed with skim milk and a FiberOne bar -- it's easy and fast to eat on the road and keeps my satisfied until lunchtime. On the weekends I eat more of an omelet-type of breakfast though.
  • That sounds like a good combination. You've got to do what you've got to do to get those nutrients in. Sometimes it's nice to save the cooked meal for the weekends as something special : )

I wish I had the money to get this. It looks a lot better than any of the Jenny Craig's meals. When I do get the money I will be sure to try this out.
