The mental approach of “everyone is doing it” is not the best one to take when it comes to the health and fitness of your own body.  Instead of learning it the right way that’s best for us, we look at what others are doing, listen to our ill-informed friends, or trust in that ‘has been’ high school football star… who now sports a beer gut!

In this week’s episode of Made Fit TV, I air my grievances (hehe - Seinfeld reference, there) about my Top 3 Exercises that I see most people performing WRONG!  And when I say wrong, that pertains to the fact that these methods provide nothing but lacking results and increased potential for injury.

You don’t need me to tell you that vegetables are the best foods to nourish our bodies with. But how many times do you think “Gee, I’m really craving a huge mound of asparagus and broccoli!”? Not often.

Dark vegetables, deep-colored berries, and low-sugar fruits like apples are the ideal foods that provide the highest quality of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants that most of us are deficient in.  But even if we try to eat more, we could face higher grocery bills, less free time, and gas-y stomachs!

In this week’s Made Fit TV episode, I show you a creative and delicious way to get more vegetables into your nutrition plan in the most enjoyable way as possible.  Check it out for my favorite juicing recipe that I drink daily!

Interval Training, or, more specifically, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), is one of the most popular workout methods to improve fat-loss, metabolism, and endurance.  I explained the benefits on Made Fit TV in the past, in Episode 45, of how and why it’s so important for your program.

In this week’s episode, I kick HIIT up a notch with two of my favorite things: a jump rope and a GymBoss!  Check out the video and the information below on how to amp up your cardio and endurance training by targeting all of the right heart rates for optimum results.

Jump Rope HIIT with GymBoss

Before anything, figure out your heart rate zones and anaerobic threshold (AT). If you don’t have a heart rate monitor or don’t know your heart rate zones, you can still figure it out with the method that is a “Feeling Test.” Click on this link and download the “feeling test” pdf below the video.

  1. Set your GymBoss to 00:45 over 03:15
  2. Jump rope for 45 seconds (you should hit your AT or be at a “10″ on the feeling scale)
  3. Take 15 seconds to get set-up on the treadmill or cardio of your choosing and then run or walk at a moderate pace for 3 minutes (you should aim to get down to a steady pace in Zone 2 or be at a “5″ on the feeling scale)
  4. Repeat the interval by following the GymBoss for a total of FIVE rotations for a 20 minute workout OR TEN rotations for a 40 minute workout
